Ed Hardy: "Beyond Skin" book signing

Internationally renowned for breathing new life into tattooing, Don Ed Hardy,
an American tattoo artist raised in Southern California, has created a startling array of artwork "Beyond Skin" over the last four decades. Hardy's drawings, prints, paintings, and newest pieces in porcelain effortlessly cross boundaries. Intergrating the iconography of every thing and every place, from classic tattoo flash and Hollywood cartoons to the Old West, from Asia and Polynesia to Medieval Europe, Hardy achieves a weird beauty by mixing the grotesque, humorous, subtle, and flamboyant.

Hardy  was a pupil of Sailor Jerry Collins. Through his association with Sailor Jerry, Hardy was invited to study tattoing in Japan in 1973 with the Japanese classical tattoo master, Horihide. He became recognized for incorporating Japanese tattoo aesthetic and technique into his American style work.

In 1982, Hardy and his wife formed Hardy Marks Publications. Under this marque, they published the five book series Tattootime which was one of several publications that popularized tattooing with new audiences. Hardy Marks has gone on to publish more than 20 books, including catalogs of Hardy's work and that of Sailor Jerry Collins.

La Luz de Jesus will have multiple books and products available for Ed to sign at this event, and you may even bring items from home.
